On 11 September 2025, ALCHEMHY participated in a clustering session hosted by the FIREFLY project, alongside NEO-CYCLE, as part of FIREFLY’s consortium meeting. The event provided a valuable platform to exchange insights across projects working towards greener, more sustainable chemical production processes.
During the session, White Research presented an overview of ALCHEMHY, highlighting its mission to develop electrified, zero-emission production routes for ammonia and methanol. The presentation introduced ALCHEMHY’s two our of four innovative pathways, Magnetic-Heated Sorption-Enhanced Reactors (MSER) and Direct Electro-Synthesis of Ammonia (DESA), both designed to enable decentralised, low-emission synthesis powered by renewable electricity.
Complementing this, CIIAE, together with partners from the University of Aveiro, shared a focused contribution on DESA, outlining technical progress and potential synergies with sister projects.
The clustering event also featured presentations from FIREFLY, which develops green (electro)catalysts from recycled metals, and NEO-CYCLE, which demonstrates sustainable upcycling of spent NdFeB magnets into advanced catalysts for green ammonia production. While the projects address distinct challenges, the session highlighted areas of complementarity and opportunities for future collaboration, particularly in advancing sustainable catalysts and electrified processes.
The ALCHEMHY team thanks FIREFLY for hosting the event and looks forward to continuing the dialogue with sister projects in upcoming clustering activities.
