Shaping a Sustainable Future for the Chemical Industry

ALCHEMHY aims to redefine ammonia, methanol and hydrogen production with innovative, zero-emission technologies, driving efficiency and decarbonisation in the chemical sector.

Why Does the Chemical Industry Need Transformation?

The chemical industry is at the forefront of global sustainability challenges, with its energy-intensive processes and reliance on fossil fuels contributing significantly to greenhouse gas emissions. To remain viable in the context of a decarbonised future, this sector must evolve rapidly.

ALCHEMHY tackles these pressing issues by focusing on three core areas: ammonia, methanol, and hydrogen. By developing innovative processes for ammonia and methanol production, the project addresses the high energy consumption and significant environmental impact traditionally associated with these chemicals.

By developing electrified production routes and leveraging green hydrogen, ALCHEMHY addresses these challenges directly. The project integrates cutting-edge technologies, such as process intensification and digital twin modeling, to revolutionize production methods. This innovative approach enhances efficiency and sustainability, and therefore, reduces emissions reduces emissions, aligning with the European Green Deal and the EU’s climate neutrality goals for 2050.

ALCHEMHY’s concept builds on a vision of collaboration, bringing together academia, industry, and policymakers to transform the chemical sector into a leader in sustainability. With a focus on circularity and resource efficiency, the project sets the stage for scalable solutions that can redefine the future of chemical production globally.
