On Friday 27 March, ALCHEMHY hosted an online roundtable bringing together EU-funded projects working on chemical decarbonisation, electrification, hydrogen integration, carbon capture and utilisation (CCU), and related industrial transition topics. The session aimed to share updates, exchange ideas, and explore potential ways to collaborate.
Representatives from several projects participated and delivered short presentations: Richard H. Heyn presented HYPER and éQATOR, Dr. Michaela Papageorgiou presented STEROPE, Dr. María Herrando presented METAWAVE, Leon Nielsen presented ALCHEMHY, Lena-Sophie Loew presented CAPTUS, and Michela Mazzoccoli presented TRINEFLEX.
The discussion covered practical challenges and lessons learned, such as the Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) of catalytic processes, reactor design and scaling (including microwave and induction technologies), and approaches for temperature measurement using fibre optics, infrared cameras, and digital twins. Participants also explored data management and digitalisation, highlighting the complexity of integrating different data streams and platforms in industrial applications.
The roundtable showed that meaningful collaboration comes from bringing people together to exchange perspectives, ask questions, and learn from real experiences. The session was productive and helped strengthen connections between projects. ALCHEMHY will continue to expand its network and remains open to further opportunities for collaboration and synergy with other initiatives in the chemical decarbonisation space.
