The ALCHEMHY project is proud to announce its synergy with the TRINEFLEX project, uniting two ambitious initiatives under the shared vision of transforming Europe’s energy-intensive industries (EIIs) through sustainable innovation. Both projects are funded under the Horizon Europe programme and address key EU priorities such as the digital agenda, clean air, artificial intelligence, climate action and biodiversity.
At the heart of this collaboration lies a common objective: to decarbonise key industrial processes by integrating clean energy, digitalisation, and advanced materials, while boosting flexibility, resilience, and competitiveness across European value chains.
While TRINEFLEX focuses on the deployment of an end-to-end digital toolkit to enable flexible, energy-efficient operation across five industrial demonstration sites (in the glass, copper, aluminium, and water sectors), ALCHEMHY advances innovative electrified processes for the sustainable production of ammonia and methanol, two platform chemicals with high carbon footprints today.
Their complementary approaches are a natural fit. TRINEFLEX brings deep expertise in digital twins, big data infrastructures, and flexible plant operation, all essential to the digital transformation of energy-intensive industries. ALCHEMHY contributes innovative advances in electrified reactor design, plasma-catalytic processes, and hydrogen-based feedstock alternatives that support decentralised, fossil-free chemical production.
By aligning efforts, the two projects aim to:
- Mutually support the integration of green hydrogen and alternative feedstocks into industrial processes,
- Leverage digital modelling and decision support systems to optimise flexible, low-emission operations,
- Accelerate replication and scale-up through shared technical insights and demonstration platforms,
Together, ALCHEMHY and TRINEFLEX contribute to the long-term transformation of Europe’s process industries, paving the way for a more sustainable, digital, and resilient industrial future.
